Bugs Bunny: An Anarcho-Rabbit?

After looking at the fairly new Carnvial of Anarchy blog’s tag line, I couldn’t help but wonder if Bugs Bunny has joined the anarchist movement.

Does this mean Elmer Fudd is out to deliver statist “justice”?

:-)

Nerdy political humor!

Striking Goodyear Workers: Potentially Immoblizing the War Machine

A recent example of the state threatening to distort the free market in the realm of labor relations:

The US Army is considering measures to force striking workers back to their jobs at a Goodyear Tire & Rubber plant in Kansas in the face of a looming shortage of tyres for Humvee trucks and other military equipment used in Iraq and Afghanistan. A strike involving 17,000 members of the United Steelworkers union has crippled 16 Goodyear plants in the US and Canada since October 5. The main issues in dispute are the company’s plans to close a unionised plant in Texas, and a proposal for workers to shoulder future increases in healthcare costs.

Hat tip to Charles Johnson.

The strike has ended but anyone interested in following the union behind it can do so at this link.

Studies in Dialectical Libertarianism Part One: Introduction

Part One: Introduction

Libertarianism represents the philosophy of authentic individual control. By extension, it involves the maximum possible control of groups over their affairs. Nevertheless, one must always keep in mind that collectives have no real meaning beyond the individuals that comprise them. Collectives exist for the sake of the individuals involved.

Where libertarianism’s beauty lies is its granting of the individual the maximum amount of freedom compatible with the sovereignty of others. My definition of freedom is a wholly negative one informed by the libertarian non-aggression principle. Simply put, you have the enforceable right to be left alone to the extent that you respect the same in others.

In the following pages, I’ll define and defend what I believe to be a genuinely liberatory libertarianism on three levels of generality. These levels are the political, economic, and cultural. Definitions of each level are followed by explanations of my preferences for each. Let’s dive into the discussion!

(I have much more work to do but this is part of what I have written for the first part so far. I’ll likely add to it and revise it over time. I plan to spend a great deal of my time promoting the website and writing soon so work on the book will go much faster.)

Calling All Tech Geeks

Your fellow computer nerd requests assistance with his website apperance. My sidebar doesn’t appear to show up at the beginning of the page.

I am thinking I Just need to update to the latest version of wordpress to solve this but not entirely sure. Any advice on these matters is welcomed!

Net Digest and Yahoo Group Plus Donation Button to Come

For anyone who is interested, I’ve started a weekly net digest titled Anarcho_Nick’s Chess, Sex, and More Digest that will be sent out every Sunday. A Yahoo group has been set up to allow easier mailing of the digest and a forum for discussion. Anyone is pretty much welcome to join as long as they maintain a civil and courteous tone.

In other site business, I’m going to spruce up my design and put a donation button on it to see if anyone finds any of my work of value enough to donate. I have a part-time job so I’m not in dire straits but some extra income wouldn’t hurt and I’d love to be making a living from writing.
