Song of the Day-Laughing Away

The pick for today is Ha Ha from a fun group called Mates Of State. It has an enjoyable popish sound that warrants a look.

Song of the Day-Got Me Burning Up

The Motown promotion continues with Love Is Like A Heat Wave by Martha And The Vandellas.

Enjoy!

Job Hunting Griefs

I took a stroll to look for another job today and returned with some applications plus the basis of a new political rant so here goes!

My plan was to hit up as many good looking places as I could so I stopped in at Torre’s Pizzeria/Dark Horse Tavern only to discover that 18 year olds couldn’t work there.

My guess? The drinking age was a factor.

I am all for encouraging responsible acholol use and discouraging abuse but let’s not create a class of criminals where there needn’t be one.

It’s never struck me as sensible to hold all individuals liable for the potential destructive actions on the part of some anyhow.

The government can conscript you at 18 but god forbid you have a few drinks or serve them so let’s lower it.

There’d be more individual freedom and a wider job market for broke young folks.

Sounds good to me!

I Branched Out Musically and It’s Rocking-Enjoying Against Me

I haven’t always been the biggest buyer of CD’s but music has recently started playing a much bigger role in my life so I’ve been building up a collection.I’ve also started exploring music from genres I haven’t had a lot of exposure too so I ended up buying Searching For A New Clarity by Against Me.It turned out to have some songs I really love so I figured another musical tribute piece was in order.

The songs below are the ones I’ve enjoyed the most.

-Unprotected Sex With Multiple Partners

-Joy

-Holy Sh*T!

-Even At Our Worst We’Re Still Better Than Most (The Roller)

-Searching For A Former Clarity

I’ve been very impressed by the instrumental sounds these folks produce and the chorus from Joy is very life affirming.

“And there’s a joy, a joy in all I can see.A joy, in every possibility.”

Here’s a link for those interested in giving it a listen.

Song of the Day-Tempt Me Please

I’m a fellow with a penchant for the sounds of Motown and one of my favorite groups is The Temptations. They put out a classic song called Ain’t Too Proud To Beg that gets my seal of approval.

I Crown Marvin Gaye a Musical King-A Tribute to the Late But Still Great Musician

The late Marvin Gaye is one musical artist who always manages to keep my spirits high and bring forth a sway as well as a zest for life on my part few other musicians do. I have spent many hours listening to his tunes over and over with hardly any tiring of his addictive sound.

The following tunes constitute what I see as some of his best work.

Sexual Healing-Studio and live version are both good listens.

How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You

Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing

Let’s Get It On-Studio and live version with the live version having a subtle background beat that I absolutely adore!

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough-Duet with Tammi Terrell

Your Precious Love-Duet with Tammi Terrell

You’re All I Need To Get By-Duet with Tammi Terrell

If I Could Build My Whole World Around You-Duet with Tammi Terrell

Too Busy Thinking About My Baby

Distant Lover (Live)

I Heard It Through The Grapevine

What’s Going On

Inner City Blues

I Want You

My Love Is Waiting

The sources for the songs above were Marvin Gaye Gold from Motown Records and Marvin Gaye-Whats Going On? from Legacy Entertainment Inc. but My Love Is Waiting can be found on the album containing the hit Sexual Healing.

The first CD I own is a studio collection while the second is a recording of a live concert.

Song of the Day-Disney Addiction

The Disney craze continues today with the soothing Beauty And The Beast that has a beautiful sound worth giving a chance.

Song of the Day-Pull Up a Chair

The Disney musical Beauty And The Beast contains some fantastic sounds that have got me hooked. I reccomend Be Our Guest for combining beautiful voicework with a killer orchestral score.

Song of the Day-The Brothers Blue

The classic film The Blue Brothers not only contains the great comedic duo of Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi but also some amazing music. There’s a song near the end of the film that I’ve returned too countless times called Everybody Needs Somebody To Love.

I can’t help but be swayed by this fine musical piece!

Song of the Day-Driving Away

The pick for today accompanies my tribute post to Getaway Car and I encourage folks to give it a chance.
